1993 Ford taurus transmission wont shift into gear?

This could be a lot of different things. First you do not mention checking the fluid level - if it's low or empty you get the "nuetral" effect. Did it stop working on the roll, or did it just one day stop going into gear? Did it happen slowly over time? With nearly 200,000 miles I would either rebuild that or buy a reconditioned one - no disrespect but that model car is not worth much, so weight the benefits of getting a different ride.
