that does sound like a good size cage at the moment, the cube cages are OK as a guinea pig does not climb so an open top we had a good cage that our guinea pigs loved but needed a bit more room we kept the cage they loved and brought a rabbit hutch, we cut a hole in the bottom of the old cage and the top of the hutch and fitted a ramp in between the two the old cage went on top and the guinea pigs loved their new addition to their house, they liked the fact it had a room which was semi dark and spent hours running up and down the ramps to different rooms, and it was a lot cheaper than a new cage, the new cage sounds plenty big enough as well i am sure your piggy will love all the effort you are putting in to make him happy, you must love him very much. best of luck.
