How can I be close with my brother again?

My brother is 16 & i'm 14. we used to be supppppper close until he turned like 12. I really want to be close to him again.. whenever i try to be nice he's just so mean. he's 'popular' and i'm not which i think bothers him alittle. what can ido to be closer to him?
