How much support should a husband give after c-section?

I am due to have first c-section due to breech baby and I'm dreading it. My husband has started suggesting dates for the C-section, he has a very busy job. He told me last night that he thinks that coming to the operation itself and spending the first day in the hospital and then going back to work and then after the c-section spending two or maybe three days at home, when I am back from hospital. He thinks being at the hospital is a waste of leave time because nurses will be there. What do other people do I wonder? Do people recover fast from c-sections? Do husbands stay around at the hospital? I am not from my husbands country and don't know hardly anyone here and wonder if I will need more support in the hospital but not sure if I am being a baby myself. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks.
